Another drug den closed by TOLLINGTON SNT

I wanted to provide an update regarding drug dealing / drug use, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

Today, officers from TOLLINGTON SNT, supported by SNT (Safer Neighbourhood Team) officers from neighbouring ward, attended a property on MARLBOROUGH ROAD alongside ISLINGTON COUNCIL, forcing entry and changing the locks. The property had been taken over by squatters, and inside were signs of crack cocaine use, such as gauze, crack pipe components and lighters. The locks have since been changed and the property sealed with metal grates, better safeguarding residents in the area.

We, your local SNT officers are currently keeping a document of all problem addresses flagged to them and aiming to tackle all of them to the best of our ability, typically by removing the occupants, which is usually done with a police power called a closure order. A key challenge officers face on neighbourhood teams is making residents aware of the actions being done by these officers to tackle issues in the area. We are seeking to increase posts on MetEngage and also use other channels, including in person engagement, to better show you what we are doing to help keep you safe.
